Dr. Mary P. Cadogan
Dr. Mary P. Cadogan is a Professor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Nursing where she directs the Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and is Co-Director of the Center for the Advancement of Gerontological Nursing Science. Mary is a registered nurse and registered nurse practitioner. For the past forty years, as a nurse, nurse practitioner and educator Mary has worked to build and implement highest quality of care for older adults, including skilled nursing facility residents. She has practiced in skilled nursing facilities, ambulatory practices and specialty clinics. Mary has conducted research and published extensively on nursing home quality, changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS), ambulatory geriatric care, and on best practices for care of older adults. She has collaborated with colleagues at the UCLA Borun Center and at the Rand Corporation. Mary has taught and supervised nurses and nurse practitioner students at Yale School of Nursing, Columbia University School of Nursing, and other leading training programs. She has served as section editor for the Journal of Gerontological Nursing, she is immediate past president of the Southern California chapter of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association. Mary received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Boston College, a Master of Nursing at the University of Washington, and Doctor of Public Health from the UCLA School of Public Health. Mary is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the Gerontological Society of America, and the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
