Charles (Charlie) Hicks R.N.
Charles (Charlie) Hicks R.N. served for twenty years in the U.S. Air Force, his initial three years as a medical corpsman and the remaining years in a variety of clinical and administrative roles as a Registered Nurse. Post his Air Force Service, for over 25-years Charlie served as Chief Executive Office and/or Chief Nursing Officer at rural hospitals in Minnesota and Nevada. Charlie served as senior consultant for patient care and safety at Nye Regional Medical Center in Tonopah, NV and has worked been the senior patient care and clinical information consultant in the Horisons, Centro, Gilbert/Florence cases described below.
Charlie has developed and implemented facility wide efforts to ensure patient care and safety including policies and procedures for Quality Assurance, Infection Control, Patient Safety, Outpatient Clinics, Multi-Service Nursing Units, Emergency Departments, Special Care Units and Medical Staff. He has served in leadership positions at: Bridges Medical Foundation, Rural Council of Nurse Directors, Nevada Organization of Nurse Executives, Nevada Hospital Association Patient Care Committee, and the Nevada Rural Hospital Partners Infection Control Working Group. Recently he led the South Lyon Nevada Medical Center Telemedicine Project in its successful implementation of Electronic Health Records at South Lyon Medical Center. Charlie is a 1973 graduate of the Eastern Montana College/ Saint Vincent’s School of Nursing. Charlie retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major and received various Honors and Awards including the Meritorious Service Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Humanitarian Service Medal for his work in the evacuation of Saigon.
